In 1995, for about 35,4% of babies in Indonesia get KEP (medianrnpercentage based on age < 80%). In 1977, based on nutrition status monitoringrn(PSG) that is conducted by Department of Society Nutrition Advisory, this KEPrnprevalence is decrease to be 23,1%. This condition cannot be maintained, that isrnwhen Indonesia was in monetary crisis that causes on prolonged economic crisis.rnIn 1998, KEP prevalence was increase back to be 39,8. There is still any wrongrnhabit in giving ASI and MP-ASI. MP-ASI is earlier given and it gives effect onrnnutrition status. This study is aimed to know the correlation of giving MP-ASIrnearlier with nutrition status on 6-12 months baby.rnIt is analytic study by cross-sectional approach that uses questionnaire andrnDacin scale as the instruments. The sample of this study is mothers with 6-12rnmonths baby in Lawang in May-Jule. They are 38 samples by using accidentalrnsampling.rnFrom the result of study based on age, it shows that for about 47,36%rnbabies get early MP-ASI. While on the nutrition status, it shows that mother inrnproperly giving MP-ASI (> 6 months) has good nutrition status by 60,52%. Thernhypotheses test in this study uses chi square by significant value α = 0,05. Thernresult of study shows that there is any correlation between early giving MP-ASIrnwith nutrition status by p value = 0,000. It means MP-ASI by incorrect givingrnprecision based on age (< 6 months) is much more. While in correct nutritionrnstatus (> 6 months) of giving MP-ASI based on age has good nutrition status. Thernsuggestion from the writer is hoped that mothers do not give her babies MP-ASIrnearlier, give them MP-ASI based on their age.
