Health Science Higher School of Widyagama Husada. Advisors: (1) Yuniar Angelia, S.SiT., M.Kes, (2) Fitri Meiani, S.ST.rnThe under-five years old can be called as the gold period among children because it is when their development is greatly influenced. One influential factor is the participation of fathers in care process. In preliminary study at TK PGRI 02, 10 respondents and kindergarten teachers are interviewed. The result shows that 60 % respondents have good interaction with their children and have their children development as normal, while 40 % respondents have very lack of interaction with their children and have their children development as not compatible to their friends.rnResearch design is correlation. The instruments of research include questionnaire and DDST checklist. The sample is the fathers from 4-years old under-five children at TK PGRI 02 Batu. Data are collected from April to May 2013. Based on total sampling, the sample is 46 respondents.rnResult of research indicates that 13 respondents who participate in care process have their children development as 100 % normal, while respondents without participation have their children development as doubtful and 50 % abnormal. Hypothesis testing uses Spearman Rank test and the result is that the correlation rate (rs) is 0.961 while Z-table of 1.96 < Z-count of 4.7.rnConsidering this results, it is then acknowledged that fathers‟ care pattern influences the development of 4-years old under-five children. In the category of fathers with participation in care process, the development of their children is compatible with others or said as normal, while for fathers without participation, the development of their children is usually doubtful and abnormal, or not compatible with other children.rnReferences : 23 literatures (2002-2012)rnKeywords : The participation of fathers in care process.
