Yunus, M.Kes.rnPain is a sensory and emotional experience that is not enjoyable due to the tissue damage, either actual or potential, or described in terms of damage. Uterine contractions during labor cause pain due to hypoxia of the muscles of the uterus, cervixstretching, compressing the nerve plexus ganglia frakenhauser, emphasis on tubes, ovaries and the peritoneum, stretching the ligaments supporting the uterus, and distension of the pelvic floor muscles and the perineum. Relaxation is an effective method, especially in patients with acute pain. Kneeling position is suitable for delivery with back pain, ease the fetus in the rotation can also help decrease the fetal head into the pelvis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of relaxation techniques and pain reduction in a kneelling position on the maternal active phase of the first stage in the BPS Chusnul Chotimah Klampok Singosari Malang.rnBased on preliminary studies conducted on 20th to 26th June 2013 there were 5 maternal collectively experiencing pain.The method used is pre experimental design with pretest-posttest group technique. The sample used by 7 maternal active phase of the first stage that met the inclusion criteria the period June – July 2013. Sampling technique used was random sampling. Analysis of these result using Paired T-Test analysis.rnShows the result of the analysis of the 7 respondents after being given relaxation techniques and kneeling positions all respondents decreased pain levels. From the result obtained Paired T-Test values obtained sign is smaller thanα ( 0,000 < 0,05 ), which means that there is a significant effect of the level of pain before and after a given relaxation techniques and kneeling positions.
