Background: PLWHA Compliance is an essential aspect to consider in
undergoing lifelong ARV treatment because Human Immunodeficiency Virus or
better known as HIV is a virus that attacks or infects leukocytes, causing a
decrease in the immune system, as a result, it can have an impact on physical,
psychological, independence, social problems. , environmental and spiritual.
Increasing the level of adherence to PLWHA taking ARV drugs can reduce
morbidity and even mortality due to HIV. The role of peer support groups is one
of the factors that can affect the adherence of PLWHA in undergoing ARV
treatment therapy. ARV is the best therapy for PLWHA to date. PLWHA must
take ARVs for life and on time to suppress the replication process of HIV. Good
peer group support can increase adherence to ARV medication by PLWHA.
Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between peer group social
support and the level of information on adherence to ARV medication in PLWHA
at the Jombang Care Center.
Methods: The design of this study used an analytical survey method with a
cross-sectional involving a sample of 30 respondents. The sampling technique
used in this research is purposive sampling. The instruments used in this study
were peer group support questionnaires and ARV medication adherence level
questionnaires. The statistical test used in this research is somers'd calculation.
Results: Data analysis used somers'd to examine the relationship between peer
social support and information on ARV adherence with a significance level of 5%.
The results showed that peer group support was related to the level of
information on ARV adherence to PLWHA with a p-value of 0.003, with a
correlation coefficient of 0.497 which indicates a positive correlation with
sufficient correlation strength. This means that the higher the peer group's social
support, the higher the level of information on ARV compliance.
Conclusion: There is a relationship between peer group social support and the
level of information on adherence to ARV medication for PLWHA at Jombang
Care Center.
